Took my new remington 750 woodsmaster 308 to the range(after following the mfg instruction to clean gun before use) and had to hand cycle the bolt to extract/feed old/new rounds for the first 5 rounds. Not a very good beginning. Couldn't help but flash on the varied stories I read on the web about it being a "Jam-o-matic". So being the optimist I am, I continued to single feed it while sighting it in. Had more than a few failure to extracts. Finally when I was satisfied on the accuracy (about round #30) I loaded it fully and only got 3 shots in a row till it did'nt extract an empty. At this point, I hope this is just because it's not broken in. A cleaning is in order and will take back to the range to run some more ammo downrange and hopefully will loosen up. For what it's worth, I own 6 other rifles that are semi-auto's and did not have this kind trouble. I'll bookmark this site to give a follow-up.

Continuation of Remington Woodmaster 750: The second trip to the range was much like before. I gave up trying more than 1 shot at a time. I just single loaded it, figuring it's getting broken in, albeit lots slower. This was for 31 rounds. Lots of failure to extract. Made me less than a happy customer. Thoroughly cleaned and let clp soak in for a month.Cleaned before went to range. Loaded it up and it worked as it should have. 5 shots back to back, no hint of misbehavin. And worked with no problems the rest of the session. So now have 80 rounds through it. Will take back to range once bulk ammo arrives and see how it behave's. Otherwise, I think it look's nice and swings readily.

Great semi-auto

I bought my 750 a month ago after reading some good and bad reviews and decided to try one. I ordered a .243Win for hunting coyotes specifically at fairly close ranges]under 150 yds[. After a thorough soaking in degreaser and lightly brushing internal parts I''ve had no problems with jam-ups at all. My first trip to the range with factory loaded 80gr core-loks gave me 1.25 on the first real group after sight in and bore cleaning. It doesn''t get any better than that for a factory semi gun! My first choice would have been an R-25 in .243 but they are restricted here in Canada and we can''t hunt with them. So the 750 was the next best thing without spending a small fortune. This gun is definitly a good buy! I might even let my wife use it on deer! uh, or not.
